Laura started covering travel for CNN. After serving as one of the original producers of CNN International, she moved into travel by creating the network's TravelGuide program. Laura then reported on travel for CNN for nearly five years. Since leaving CNN, Laura has become a nationally-recognized travel expert, having appeared on scores of television and radio programs across the country. She has been seen on ABC's World News This Morning, CNN Headline News, The Today Show/New York, CNBC and Fox News Channel. She's also been interviewed on radio stations ranging from KCBS to WTOP to WGN.
Laura holds an M.A. in European Politics from the University of Essex in Colchester, England and a B.S. Summa Cum Laude in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University. Powell also studied at the European University Institute in Fiesole, Italy.
